A CROSS-BORDER PROJECT / YANINA EVSTAFIEVA, MARIA POLUKHTINA AND ELEONORA PETROVA / RUSSIA

WE HAVE TIME

TRAILER
We have time is a set of stories said by foreign students of St. Petersburg State University. They told us about the reason why they came to study in Russia. Young people share their first impressions of living in our country and honestly answer the question what it feels like to find themselves in such a different culture.
The dialogue of cultures is communication. Communication of people of different nationalities, communication of people with different views on a particular situation. Such a dialogue of people from different countries and people of different nationalities will help us to support our common culture — journalism.

— What is the «Dialogue of Cultures» for you?
The dialogue of cultures is communication. Communication of people of different nationalities, communication of people with different views on a particular situation. In theory, all journalists belong to the same culture, but each has its own individual shade. We need to communicate in order to preserve our professional culture. Meeting, talking, discussing, watching each other's work, highlighting strengths and weaknesses. Such a dialogue of people from different countries and people of different nationalities will help us to maintain our common culture — journalism.
— Do you think there is a difference between a documentary and a television film?
The main difference is the platform on which the film is published. A TV movie, of course, has a limited time frame on the air, but it is in no way inferior to a traditional documentary, which is published, for example, on a YouTube channel. In a documentary film, the degree of author involvement in the narrative is greater than in a television film. But the main function of the narrator in both screen works is to form the viewer's idea and to invite the audience to think about the events and phenomena that occur in society.
