Guide from Staraya Ladoga

(Volkhovskiy district)

Poetess and guide from Staraya Ladoga

The village of Staraya Ladoga was a city many years ago. It was here that Rurik arrived according to the Tale of Bygone Years, and before Slavs, Balts and Finno-Ugric peoples existed together in these territories.

For Elena Sividova, Staraya Ladoga is the homeland of her ancestors and descendants. Every morning she greets the river and the sun. And then she goes to the Staraya Ladoga Museum-Reserve to arrange excursions, where she tells visitors about how Ladoga used to live.
"I was very pleased to participate in this project, because it was a great opportunity to visit and see Russia with my own eyes. For me, the most interesting thing was to get to know the culture and people of Russia and the Leningrad region in real time, live. This is great, because I learned all this not from photographs, as before, but directly through personal experience and captured it in my own pictures."
