The XVIII annual International Media-Forum "Dialogue of Cultures" will be held in the Hermitage very soon. More than 300 representatives of the creative industries will gather in St. Petersburg to exchange experiences with colleagues from different regions of Russia and other countries, to become witnesses of a Dialogue that has been carefully guarded by the museum for more than two centuries.

For many years, the Forum has been bringing together young authors, allowing them to demonstrate their original cross-border media projects to a wide audience, receive expert assessment from recognized masters of world journalism, share ideas and their unique experience.

Despite challenging times, dialogue must be maintained to support cultural exchange and strengthen mutual relations between countries.
Mikhail Piotrovsky
Director of the State Hermitage Museum
Today, wars of memory are confronting cultural dialogue. Everyone is now remembering who offended whom, rather than how they were together, despite everything. In these conditions, dialogue must continue in any way possible; one must speak, even without being sure that every word will be heard.
Traditionally, the Forum will be held at the State Hermitage Museum. The choice of one of the largest museum venues in the world is due to its special cultural-historical background. The Hermitage is the very place where the dialogue between different nations' cultures was initiated over 250 years ago.

Young journalists, photographers, directors, cinematographers, podcast authors, bloggers, and media artists and motion designers are invited to become part of the largest intercultural media forum. Students of faculties of journalism and mass communication faculties in Russia and Eurasian countries can also make their first stop at the Hermitage at the beginning of their careers.
From February, 1 to April, 27, 2024, you can submit your original work, the best ones will be presented at the Hermitage. Cross-border projects, long-reads, photo and video projects (in Russian or with Russian subtitles), blogs, and media arts that vividly describe the unique culture of different countries and tell the stories of residents of your country or region are accepted.
The Forum will open with a practical conference featuring presentations of participants' projects and short films as part of the festival "Eurasia. New Generation of the Dialogue". A multimedia exhibition of photographic projects and installations by young authors will be held in public spaces at The General Staff Building. Leading media figures from Eurasia will also conduct a series of masterclasses titled "Media Lessons at the Hermitage".
PRACTICAL CONFERENCE
Within the framework of the conference, special attention will be paid to the presentation of multimedia cross-border projects.
A visual narrative about the distinctive culture of different countries and their inhabitants, which will help us better understand each other.
Video stories about the life of your country. A story about ordinary people, your countrymen who devoted themselves to their favorite business, about the customs and traditions of their native land, about young enthusiasts and their plans for the future.
SHOOTING OF THE PERSONAL REPORTS
Take a look at the Hermitage from the inside, tell about the trip to the media of your native land, share with foreign colleagues your view of the city of St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia.
In total, during the "Dialogue" more than 5000 visual reports were created in the Hermitage,
St. Petersburg and nearby regions. For the first time in history of the Forum mixed groups of Russian and foreign participants will visit the Pushkin Apartment Museum in St. Petersburg, the Tchaikovsky Museum in Klin and the Leo Tolstoy Museum-Estate at Yasnaya Polyana in Tula region to create collaborative multimedia projects.

After completing the on-location filming, foreign participants will use modern media and social networks to share information about Russia and the great figures of Russian culture in their native language, allowing them to effectively convey the information to the local audience.
The importance of such intercultural interaction and communication among representatives of different creative industries is emphasized by one of the organizers of the Media-Forum, Ashot Dzhazoyan:
Ashot Dzhazoyan
Organizer of the Media-Forum
Dialogue begins when we see not only the creativity of these people but when we start opening their history and culture. Because the most important thing in our dialogue is that we must hear and see each other. We dont just talk about dialogue but we conduct it.
Every year participants of the Forum are awarded with special scarves as a symbol of induction into the Friends of the Hermitage. This time in addition to the warming accessory, as part of the "My Hermitage" program, they will receive memorable gifts from the Organizing Committee of the Forum.
For the first time, Forum participants will be awarded with pins as the Goodwill Ambassadors. These badges will be presented by first-year students from St. Petersburg in front of the monument of the Bronze Horseman (Peter I) on Senate Square.
The Forum is organized by the Media Congress "The Commonwealth of Journalists" in collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation, the Government of St. Petersburg, "Russkiy Mir" Foundation and the Russian Union of Journalists.
