LOVE 404

Rena is on the threshold of adulthood. For her and her mother, the Internet is a form of escape from their humdrum everyday lives. In the world of talent shows, Facebook and YouTube, the keyboard seems to be a gateway to fame and love. Yet the border between fantasy and reality is quickly obliterated.
Rena is on the threshold of adulthood and she lives with her mother in a cramped flat. For
both of them, the Internet is a form of escape from their humdrum everyday lives. They may
share their home, but the two of them live completely separate personal lives behind the
closed doors of their rooms. Rena wants to become an acknowledged artist. In the world of
social media sites, talent shows and YouTube, the keyboard seems to be gateway to fame
and love. Yet the border between fantasy and reality is quickly obliterated. Is simply wanting
something badly enough sufficient to make dreams come true?

— What are you expecting from the upcoming Media-Forum Dialogue of
Cultures?
— I want to participate as an observer and a spectator of international debates
about Dialogue of Cultures.
— What do you think of today's digitalization tendency?
— Global digitalization tendency is the irreversible process of our civilization which
affects almost every aspect of our lives, for instance, culture, daily life, politics,
relationships, etc. That is why we should be constantly very careful, digitalization
involves as many threats as advantages.
— How and when did the idea of 'LOVE 404' come to you?
— In the beginning, I was investigated asexual people's identity and looking for them
on the internet. It was Rena who wrote to me first when I met her and her mother I
just decided to focus on their relationship and virtual life.
What is the main mistake of the characters? How do you see a way out of their situation?

— I am not sure if we can say here about a character's mistake and the problem is that I doubt if there is a way out. The characters' live situation is very complexed. I would say that the mother and the daughter live is extremely determined by economic and social circumstances.
In today's world, both teenagers and mature people are addicted to the Internet. What methods can be used to overcome this addiction?

— Very often addictions are results of some other problems hidden behind. So to fight with particular addiction we need to find the reason for the real problem first. Protagonists of 'Love 404' are looking love, acceptance, and attention that they can not get in real life.
